Sorry, this entry is only available in Norsk.
Well.. Apparently I’ve been a little inactive here on the blog for a lo(oooooooooooo)ng time, and when I checked download statistics today I see that inforMe has been downloaded more than 50 times
The reason I dropped by here was actually because I started playing with a redesign of the system, and perhaps more notably I am dreaming of some much needed improved code for the site. I have some ideas I will be trying to implement, however some of the changes I am thinking of would really benefit from a more or less complete overhaul of the system. Well… One can dream, if only I could find the time (and energy) to really get things done here.
Anyway, it would be really nice if some of you who actually downloaded inforMe to maybe leave me a comment on the blog. Are some of you using this for real, of are you just curious of what this is and/or recycling code?
As promised inforMe hits Beta today. Version 0.5 is now considered a working system with the most basic functionality.
This does not imply that the system is finished or that development will halt, but it is possible that atleast the next 3-4 weeks will be a more quiet period on this project as things are starting to pick up at work.
inforMe 0.5 Beta is not exactly a bugfree system(unfortunatly), so if you discover something that’s really annnoying you, please report this bug as a comment to this post.
Personally I would recomend using Google Chrome as webbrowser on the infoboard/infoscreen, as this is by far the fastest webbrowser available today(press F11 for fullscreen). I am aware that there are several bugs affecting IE in the adminpanel in this release, so my recommandation here is to avoid using that browser(atleast with current version), most other browsers should be fine though(i.e. one of these: Firefox, Opera or Chrome).
It’s been a week since I last typed something up here so here goes.. I hope to have inforMe version 0.5 Beta ready within a few days.. The system have been subject to some very good development lately, mostly due to the fact that I have had more time to write code the last couple of weeks. The purpose of the very first inforMe beta versjon is that it’s basic functions should be ok to use. It’s features will in the Beta be limited to: create slide, publish/save draft(archeive?), edit slide and delete slide.
Other features like change order/priority of slides, expiration date on slides, rewritten presentation engine(I have an idea) and other aesthetic improvements will have to wait until next version.
Since it’s been quite some time since I last showed I was alive, I figured it was about time for a little status update of the inforMe project.
createslide.php in the admin folder is now capable of updating any slide in the db, and as soon as you press one of the two save buttons, the post is actually submitted to the db, and you can edit that too.
The (non-existant) roadmap for this project now points out the path to creating a overview page, where pretty much anything you can do with a slide is available, for instance delete slide, edit slide, change priority, etc.
And so another update of inforMe was due to arrive to the public. The public version is now 0.4.7.6, and the adminpanel is starting to both look and work nicely.
The changelog on the project page is updated så head on over there and have a look at the new tweaks and features, or better yet download and try for yourself. Maybe it could soon be called a Beta project?
I can also mention the this is my last day at work for about a week, before I am back at it in week 28, and then again vacationing in week 29. This means, it could be awhile until the next update of the system(and this blog). Since I only have two weeks vacation this summer, it becomes even more important, to get the best out of it.
Have a fantastic summer
